MMA, or mixed martial arts, is a combination of various combat sports from around the world. Some of those styles include Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Kickboxing.
In MMA, it’s important to have a blend of grappling, wall work, wrestling (takedown defense), excellent cardio, and sufficient strength & conditioning to defeat one’s opponent within the time limit.
Our MMA classes vary each time but build off of one another so that you can add some of the techniques to your toolbox and try them out in live sparring/grappling rounds.
Two of our coaches at Staley Martial Arts are MMA fighters that have competed in the cage numerous times. Both Sarah “Reptar” Jones who fights at atomweight (105lbs), and Hayley “The Hailstorm” Turner who has competed at bantamweight (135lbs) and catchweight (130lbs) as a professional, lead our Women’s Self Defense program with classes 3x per week.
