Judo

Judo is a martial art and combat sport that requires both great mental discipline and physical prowess. Originally created in Japan as a derivative of various martial arts for samurai and warriors, techniques have been modified so that students can practice and apply them without hurting their opponents.

The word judo comprises two Japanese characters: ju, which means “gentle” and do, which means “the way.” From afar, it may not seem gentleness is a key component, as a lot of throws involve bodies flying through the air and pinned on the ground.

Staley is proud to host the Cohen Brothers for weekly judo classes to provide competition-based Olympic Level judo coaching.
